Join Me in the Lab Today at 12 PM PT/3 PM ET
One hour of baseball talk and creativity.
Hi friends-
Welcome to our new free and paid subscribers who have joined The Long Game over the past week!
We mostly talk about baseball in these parts, but we have also fostered a community that meets once a week to support each other on our creative journeys. It is a sacred (but fun!) hour each Saturday from 12 to 1 PM PT/3 to 4 PM ET—and it’s a zoom available to all paid subscribers.
We start by chatting a little about baseball. Then we talk about what we’re working on creatively, and any issues that are coming up and keeping us stuck. Then we offer each other encouragement, and dive in for 45 minutes or so of uninterrupted creativity.
If you don’t think you’re a creative person, you’re wrong! Creativity can mean journaling, doodling, meditating, sorting a sock drawer, cooking meals for the week, clearing out old clothes to give to goodwill, coding, listening to music, or hand writing a thank you note to a friend. We do this in silence on our own, then we come back together at the end of the hour to talk about what came up.
If you don’t know what else to do, you can do what I try to do each morning and write down a list of people or things you are grateful for. I promise it will help make your Saturday a little better. I will be spending this hour trying to teach the foster dog some basic commands like how to pee outside.
Some of us keep our cameras on. Some of us don’t. You don’t have to talk or be seen if you don’t want to. You will not be called on to participate if it’s not your thing.
If you haven’t joined one of these sessions before, think of it like a group yoga class, and the rest of us like your gym buddies. Or if you hate exercise, just think of it as an accountability hour. Do you need to do your dishes or fold your laundry (like me)? Is there a pile of papers on your desk that you need to sort but have been putting off? (raises hand). These may not feel like creative tasks, but they can be annoying blocks that get in the way of us enjoying our weekends with friends and family and living more stress-free lives.
Just give yourself an hour to get started and see where you land when we’re done. You may be amazed by how far you get. Or, you may be amazed that you were even able to get started at all (which is also half the battle with literally everything in life).
It doesn’t have to be serious.
The zoom link for paid subscribers is below. Hope to see you in there. <3
