Luis Gil’s emergence was one of the best stories in baseball last year and I need his shioulder to be okay. (Photo by Nick Cammett/Diamond Images via Getty Images)

Hi friends-

Come hang with the Long Game today from noon PT to 1 pm PT over zoom as we talk about the biggest baseball news of the week: from ESPN deciding not to carry baseball games anymore after 2025, to what expect from the new automatic balls and strikes challenge system, growing expectations of a lockout in 2026, Luis Gil’s shoulder injury, Sandy Alcántara wowing scouts, other players not wowing scouts, and Juan Soto and Shohei Ohtani both homering in their first spring training ABs. Plus you can ask me anything baseball related and I’ll tell you (if I know the answer). We ‘ll also discuss which teams we think will outdo the number of wins Vegas predicts (the A’s, maybe???), and which teams will flop (the Rangers, maybe??).

These weekly Saturday zooms are open to paid subscribers. If you’re on the free list and you want to join and meet other lovely baseball friends for a fireside chat each Saturday (and help support me financially) you can upgrade your subscription here:

See you in a few hours!
