Last Day to Get 20% off The Long Game and Sign up for Our Artist's Way Group that Begins on Tuesday
Plus some other odds and ends.
Hello dear ones-
Whew. Yesterday’s open discussion about mental health was so wonderful. Building a community of such lovely, thoughtful, intelligent, empathetic readers has been one of the great joys of my life. Technology, political divisions and the pandemic have all created such a hellacious spiral of isolation for so many of us. We are all humans who need connection to survive.
I subscribe to something called Rocket Money that tells me how much and where I’m spending my cash each month and I’m always a little embarrassed that my daily lattes add up to more than, say, my cable and phone bill put together. I have a coffee maker at home. I just…like my routine of starting my morning by walking to my corner shop and greeting the baristas and seeing all my neighbors who are regulars and petting all their dogs. I realize I am not paying $6 for coffee. I am paying for community. Since I’ve always worked from home, and I live alone, sometimes these are the only people I see all day. It’s worth the $6 (even though it used to be $5 before inflation…grrr).
Anyway, I know that this newsletter is fundamentally centered on my writing, but I do hope that the community discussions you guys have with each other continue to blossom and grow so that this site eventually becomes maybe only half about my writing, and half about YOU all. We are building a wonderful group, and for that I am so grateful.
Today is the last day to take advantage of the 20% discount to The Long Game for the next 12 months. Paid subscribers get all my writing, access to weekly creativity zooms, access to our Sunday Night Baseball and live MLB playoff chats, commenting privileges, and my undying devotion. Going out on my own was not easy, but you guys are making it financially possible. If you would like to support me (and bargain shop), you can do so here now:
Our Artist’s Way discussion group will begin on Tuesday at 5 PM PT/ 8 PM ET. This is to accommodate those of us (me) who want to watch the college football national championship game on Monday. We will also meet the following Tuesday after MLK Jr. Day, and the Tuesday after President’s Day. Otherwise we will be meeting each Monday through the first week of April. Forty people have enrolled in the course so far. If you emailed me to tell me you are interested, and you have not heard back directly from me, please email me again. For some reason, gremlins are eating some of your emails to me, and at least five of you went to my very hungry spam folder, for some reason. So, nudge me again. There is still space!
I’ll be sending out the Zoom link to those who are signed up in just a few minutes.
There will be no Zoom Lab tomorrow, but we will discuss on Tuesday whether to bring it back for the following Saturday.
That’s all from me today. Have a great weekend, everyone!
Thank you so much, again, for subscribing to The Long Game. If you share this post on social media, adding a link would help me tremendously. My Twitter is here. You can also follow me on Instagram here. I have a Facebook, but please don’t write me there, because I log on once a year. The best way to reach me directly is by responding to my newsletter emails, as I don’t often check my Twitter mentions because I am a woman in sports.
