Quick Update from Me
And it's good news.
I’m not ready to write all the details about it yet, but since I asked you all to keep me in your thoughts this morning I wanted to share some positive news. Long story short: For the last two weeks I’ve been operating under the assumption that I might have breast cancer. Today was D-Day, and it turns out I’m one of the lucky ones. The masses they found are cysts that can be dealt with later if they even need to be dealt with at all. I will get re-checked every six months. I am relieved beyond belief, but also feel so much guilt for those who don’t get such good news. The terror of waiting for the results was like nothing I’ve ever experienced. My heart is with everyone who is battling this scourge of a disease, as well as their family and friends. The anxiety is crushing.
Anyway. I haven’t been sleeping or eating much, so that’s what’s next on the agenda. I’ll write more later in the week about baseball, then I’ll write more about this because it’s so important that everyone get screened as soon as they are due.
I love this community we have built together. You all have lifted me up during the darkest times. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Now, onward and upward.
LFG.
GREAT news.
My mother had the same thing happen--they saw something, and it was just a cyst. Relief is a good term, and not just if your doctor was named Kenley Jansen or Craig Kimbrel.
My wife had breast cancer before we met, and had a lumpectomy, chemo, and radiation. It wasn't easy, but she got through it. I say all that to get to the point that we attended the national Susan G. Komen meeting, and one of the speakers was former Senator Edward Brooke of Massachusetts. HE had breast cancer, and it's a reminder that it can affect anybody, so check yourselves out and be careful.
I’m so happy for you, Molly! That’s wonderful news! ❤️
