The Next Artist's Way Course Will Begin on Monday, Jan. 9

Hi friends-

We had so much fun gathering each week to do The Artist’s Way together in the summer and fall that we’re doing it again, beginning Jan. 9. We will meet each Monday for 13 weeks from 5 to 6 pm over Zoom. The course will run through April 3.

What is The Artist’s Way? Well, it’s a book on jumpstarting creativity, written by the brilliant Julia Cameron, to help kickstart a creative life. It’s a wonderful course for aspiring writers, but also for dancers, cooks, lawyers, teachers, computer programmers, illustrators, parents, welders and anyone else looking to live a more well-rounded life. I am particularly looking forward to the weekly artist’s dates, as I was too sick with long COVID to go on any outings back when we did the course in July, August and September.

The book is divided into 12 chapters. Each week we’ll read a chapter, work through the exercises on our own, then meet the following Monday for group discussion. These group meetings are powerful and healing and I learned so much from everyone the last go-round that there was no question we would do this again. In many ways, gathering weekly with those of you on the path toward shedding our fears and blocks was the highlight of my year.

The book has sold millions of copies and can be found anywhere books are sold. If reading books can be a block for you, it’s also available on Audible, which is doing a free 30-day trial right now.

Here’s what one Amazon reviewer, Cody P., wrote about The Artist’s Way back in November:

I was at a semi-low point during the pandemic, and my friend said he had just started reading an incredible book that was really affecting his outlook on life. I decided to download the book just because I had the time.
It changed my life.
I had no idea what was hiding within me...or, should I say, what I was keeping hidden within me. Gosh, it's been over a year since I first made my way through the book, and I still write my Morning Pages, I'm better as self-assessment, and my creativity continues to bloom in ways I never knew it could.
Super grateful.

All you have to do to sign up for this course with us is:

  1. Be a paid subscriber to The Long Game.

  2. Respond to this email that you want in.

The Long Game is a reader-supported newsletter. The best way to support me and my work is by taking out a paid subscription now:

If you know someone who might benefit from this course, you can also give a gift subscription here:

Financial need is never a barrier in these parts. If you would like to take this course but can’t afford a paid subscription right now (been there!), email me. I’ve got a few donated paid subscriptions to give away.

We will also be meeting tomorrow morning at 10 AM PT/1 PM ET for another hour of creativity in our last Lab of the year. That Zoom is also open to all paid subscribers, and you’ll receive an email invite shortly before 10 AM.

I’m excited to get started! Just let me know if you want to take the course.

If you do not want to take the course, you will not receive any more emails about it.

If you decide to take the course, you can get started on reading the introduction to the book before we meet on Jan. 9. But our first session will mostly be an hour in which we talk about what to expect over the coming weeks. We won’t discuss Chapter 1 until Jan. 16 (so don’t freak out if you show up on the 9th and haven’t done the reading). :)

OK, all. Have a wonderful weekend!
