‘It’s fitting, actually, that the Rays are now effectively taking their place as a Yankee farm feeder. ‘

The Yankees have never found a replacement for the Kansas City Athletics, their ‘farm feeder’ of the late 50s and 60s - maybe now they have? (But then the Rays almost always field a good team, which was never the case with the KC version of the A’s lol)

The Kansas City A's had a GREAT team. But it was playing in New York. According to Bill Veeck, the GM there had worked for the Yankees and said the Yankees "would take care of me." Boy, did they.

I’m sympathetic to what happened to the Rays. It’s a classic Act of God

Hurricane John Fischer OTOH can (multiple words and phrases have been redacted)

It sounds like you're suggesting he perform an act that would take a miracle to accomplish.

They were too cheap pay like $200K for extra insurance and now it will cost them $55 million. Whoops!

Yep which stinks but would the repairs even be done in time?

"The Rays will now join the A’s and become the second team playing in a minor league stadium in 2025."

Of course White Sox fans (or maybe it's just me) are paranoid about the Sox being the third such team, when they sneak out of town and head to Nashville at the break of a January dawn.*

*Assuming that the White Sox qualify as a Major League team...

TB will be challenged to put fans in the outdoor seats in Florida’s humid summer heat wave. Maybe schedule games after 10pm. Where will the MiLB Tampa Tarpons play after being kicked out of their home field? Curious times!

Meanwhile the White Sox are a minor league team playing in a major league stadium.

I’m trying to get the Onion to buy the white Sox and let me run the team.

I'm with you, I think he's Padres-bound. The Japanese baseball writer whose opinion I trust the most thinks Padres. There's suspicion that the no fraternizing with MLB teams order that NPB gave this season was after one of the Padres front office dropped Sasaki's name into a speech about prospects in the Padres system. I suppose we'll know by December 15th I guess, because of posting rules?

The Dodgers have to sign Teo! They can't break up TeOh(tani), the great bromance for our times!

Great and hilarious writing about MLB’s newest minor league teams! Were they relegated up or down?

My son and I are already planning trips to Tampa Bay and Sacramento over the next two seasons, so we can add them to our list of ballparks visited.

Sorry Molly, the phrase "Blue Anon" has already been taken. It's needed for conspiracy theories of how Trump stole the election.

Come to think of it, it would be best to bin all those theories and just give the phrase to the Dodgers in perpetuity.

If you heard some of the stuff I’ve heard you’d let the Dodger haters in the industry be BlueAnon 😂

"Andrew Friedman has never given a Scott Boras client longer than a one-year deal"

This would seem to rule out a Teo signing, wouldn't it?

Molly, the Cubs have been recruiting Japanese players heavily recently. Any scuttlebutt around them being in the hunt for Sasaki?

It's going to be even more embarrassing when they can't sell out a minor league stadium.
