I don’t tend to do chats, but I’ve found that Substack commenters tend to be far more thoughtful and respectful of one another (and of the authors as well) than is the case in other communities. The Athletic for one maybe isn’t the worst, but whenever I look at their comments section I cringe in anticipation of something knuckleheaded, antagonistic or both.

A game I play with myself when reading articles on The Athletic is to guess whether one of the first five comments will have been removed for inappropriateness. If the article has even one shred of controversy to it (e.g., a female umpire being elevated to the majors for spring training) you can guarantee that someone’s comment will have been flagged and removed.

I say this to compare Molly's readers who comment in the chat. They are polite, kind, thoughtful and incredibly knowledgeable. And by the way the same is true for Molly’s good friend Joe Posnanski. The readers they both attract are awesome. Which speaks very well of Molly and Joe. It is so refreshing.

Totally agree as well about Joe, whom I have followed for years through his various platforms.

I see some nasty comments on the other sites, when we're all talking about something we either love or really enjoy, there's no reason to be disrespectful

Hello

I'm Ken, and I'm a life long Dodgers fan (since 1977)

Altho 'modern' baseball is frustrating, I still enjoy it

Some wacko Dodgers are on a manic ramp, predicting the signing of Ronald Acuna jR and the week before of Bo Bichette and speculating that Blue will offer Kyle Tucker a shorter deal of 4 years at $50 m a year and that would prove his mastery of a current 4 year at $200 Mill and then resign at the end of that another 4 year around $50mill a year. That is ridiculous since his agent will want to get him a long solid deal at the highest level. Some new Dodgers maniacs have made us look real dumbos flashing cash to really maybe this time ruin baseball. What say you Molly💥💥⁉️⁉️💙🧢⚾️

I am a new subscriber (signed up in late December 2025) but I am not getting any newsletters from The Long Game whatsoever. Is this normal for the off-season? (I have checked my spam folders and they are not there either.)
