I hope your optimism is justified but think you should start making notes for the follow-up "woe is us" podcast you both joked about at the end. Among the 30 owners Manfred answers to are some whose only interest is maximizing profit, not winning championships for their franchise's fanbase, much less some noble love of the sport. For that group the goal of the CBA talks is to reduce costs, and so far nothing has happened that would cause them to rethink their position or force other owners to pressure them to budge. I'd love to find myself saying "Molly was right!" in a few weeks but expect that instead I'll be busy making arrangements to turn my annual mid-March Spring Training trip into a golf vacation.
