Molly: Spot on comments. I had two dates on my calendar: April 15 and early June for the likely Gil Hodges number retirement during the Mets series. Not anymore.

Dodgers, Red Sox and Yankees should band together to do exactly what Joe said: Go public. If any franchises can do it, they can.

(Sidenote on Angels: How does Mike Trout feel right now? Moreno promised him a winner so Trout would sign. Trout now sees Moreno will NEVER spend to get the pitching needed to GET to the playoffs. Trout and Otani are simply show pieces to sell tickets. Ohtani should disappear as quickly as possible.)

Thanks to you and Joe for encapsulating what so many baseball fans feel. Neither side seems to realize how the ranks of "baseball fans" is dwindling.

Honestly I think the players do realize this - small market teams have a position pretty much based on maximizing their profits and minimizing their costs; large markets know that a system built on winning (which is consistent with the players) makes a better game and a better league. It's pretty clear that the small market or cheap owners (Moreno) do not care about those things.

Great pod. I appreciate that the two of you are researching and reporting from sources. I learned a lot from the discussion.
