In fairness to the Dodgers' front office, it seems letting Machado walk to poison the San Diego clubhouse might have been some excellent four-dimensional chess.
"I’m not ready for someone born just months before George W. Bush’s second term began to win Rookie of the Year. I’m just not."
It gets easier to handle Molly. Someday, you'll type that that you saw Clayton Kershaw live (in comparison to some future awesome generational left handed pitcher) and your readers will think that you knew Methusalah when he was young! I rather enjoy that reaction to my mentions of Willie Mays.
Molly, you are correct! Yamamoto and Joe Kelly did golf together during Spring Training. Joe shared that information on some podcast that I can't recall the name of but Pitching Ninja was on that same episode along with Blake Treinen.
Rhys Hoskins might be the most unlikeable player in MLB. He's like Kevin McHale. Instigates crap and then acts all innocent - moans and whines constantly.
Excellent baseball/etc. writer Craig Calcaterra noted this morning in his Cup of Coffee newsletter that, at the time when Jackson Chourio takes the field, it will be the first time there is a Major League Baseball player younger than one of his children. Then he said something about "time to walk into the sea" or words to that effect.
As for me, Brewers fan? Chourio is looking REALLY good.
But I'll say this: I'm happy to hear reports that Yamamoto is perhaps making friends easier than some Japanese players do, and in particular I love that he's friendly with one of baseball's more memorable current characters in Joe Kelly. I'm batting around ideas for a hypothetical road trip movie starring those two. Maybe they have to break up an international smuggling ring operating out of the Port of Los Angeles, run by a consortium of diabolical American and Japanese businessmen and civic leaders who are secretly incredibly corrupt and evil? AND IN THE MIDDLE OF A PENNANT RACE?! Now that's a movie I'd pay to see... twice!
Nice write-up, Molly, but I'm surprised at all the dissing Gavin Lux is getting. Yeah, he can't play short (no shame in that), but he's not terrible at second (quite serviceable, actually) and likely won't ever win a gold glove but he can freaking rake against righties. If the Dodgers acquire Adames or someone like him, that leaves two positions for Mookie, Lux, and Heyward...these are guys I want to see on the field every day, considering the help available on the bench.
My point is that a trade is going to be expensive, likely in terms of pitching prospects. Is a slight defensive improvement worth that cost? I'm not so sure. If Mookie proves capable at short and Lux is serviceable at second, I don't see a reason to change anything at all. I think the Dodgers have great (but some of it aging) pitching, but I've also seen from last year that more is on the way. Let's not screw that up.
It heartens me - as a Braves fan who watched us lose in 1991, 1992, 1993, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999 etc you get the picture - that you think the Dodgers are more likely postseason-cursed than we are
Molly, I sincerely hope that your picking the Braves is the kind of jinx that I create by going to games. We lose. So here's hoping. :)

Not so bold, but all are solid. I’m guessing you’ll hit at least .400 on these five predictions.
I need you to stop picking the Braves to win the Series, Molly. ;)

Oh i am banking on the Phils knocking the Braves out of the divisional round again.. October soon come
Great work as always Molly. I love your obvious love for baseball. Happy Easter to you and keep up the great work
