Molly, so glad you’re on the mend and I hope you’re back to feeling like yourself soon.

I knew the Rockies weren’t doing well, but oof, this was eye-opening info to read.

The most amazing this about this very delightful piece about the CR is that Molly wrote this while sick with Covid. I would have just rolled over in bed and slept another eight hours on the other side and beg for forgiveness when I was well again. Maybe in her mind she mailed it in, but it is great commentary and insight, one gem after another. I am sold! Thanks, Molly. Now stock up on some Vitamin C, zinc and magnesium. Please.

*The most amazing THING, not "amazing this." Geesh.

Yes, I had the same thought as Mike - appreciating the writing that was so good despite being ill (and I’m sure frustrated at the recurrences).

Thanks for weighing in, Tom. I am a writer myself -- book ghostwriter, former sportswriter, etc. -- and the first few days I had Covid (one time in fall 2022), I didn't have it "bad," but enough to where for the first few days I did hardly any writing at all because I just didn't feel like it.

The weird thing about being a Dodgers cap wearing fan in Colorado is when I get a Rockies merch wearing fan tell me Ugh the Dodgers to me... I sheepishly just smile and feel bad for them.

The Rockies are 9-42, but they are undefeated in games that end homestands (4-0). So you can pretty much guarantee that they will win on Sunday.

Mike Petriello made an amazing observation in spring training: in 2017 3 of the Rockies’ top 4 starters were Kyle Freeland, Antonio Senzatela, and German Marquez. All 3 are still in the rotation in 2025! That ain’t exactly Maddux/Glavine/Smoltz.

That’s rough that you got another bout of Covid, Molly. I remember the 2022 ASG well, Ohtani getting a hit off Kershaw, then getting picked off at first. Now they’re teammates! Great day, but sorry that it yielded Covid and POTS for you.

Love reading your articles. This must be a tough period for Rockies fans.

“Monfort should have no place in the next round of labor negotiations, but since everything is f—d right now, I expect him to be driving the bus with A’s Lord John Fisher, straight off a cliff.”

Feeling bad that the Giants only took 3 of 4 from them earlier this month… embarrassing, that was… maybe heads in SF need to roll?

Except for learning that you’re doing peak form writing while you’re on the mend, this insightful article makes me sad. Sad because the grandson of a dear (late) friend of mine got drafted out of high school in the first round by the Rockies. Only one in 200 kids drafted out of high school ever plays a day in the major leagues, I’ve read. He has beat that record, but whether he’ll truly make it remains to be seen. He’s in AAA now. From the day he was drafted, my hope has been that he’d be left unprotected in the Rule 5 Draft or traded. Hasn’t happened. He’s still a work in progress as a catcher coming back from a hand injury.

Monfort made capital improvements in the stadium for his personal enrichment, but he doesn’t care about the team. The altitude will prevent them from attracting and retaining a top rotation, but doesn’t account for the other dismal results.

You have so many knowledgable people on this list, Molly, and I wonder if any of you think there are ways to improve while Monfort is owner. Thanks for all you do for us as fans and followers.

Oh Molly. It’s hard to imagine all that you felt when you came down yet again with Covid. You’re in excellent form now. Sending a virtual hug to you.

Excellent, as usual. And this had me reliving all sorts of delightful, giddy memories:

"While I was reporting my book in the summer of 2013, the Dodgers ripped off a run where they went 42-8, which at that time was the best 50 game stretch in baseball history, until the same Dodgers went 41-9 a few years later. During the 2013 stretch, Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke were on generational heaters and nobody could get rookie Yasiel Puig out. But just as important, everything possible broke their way. They didn’t do this with Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts. They did it with Nick Punto and Skip Schumaker and Mark Ellis and Paco Rodriguez. It was the most insane and fun stretch of baseball I’ve ever seen."

Hang in there, Molly. Sending all the best health and recovery vibes to you, a baseball treasure.

Very glad that no one will be able to get the Covid vaccine anymore, since obviously no one gets Covid anymore so we can stop forcing people to voluntarily get vaccinated so they don’t get Covid and spread Covid to others. 🙄 Morons in charge of this place…

Hope you feel better soon! As I’ve said elsewhere, the Rockies are being run like a bar with live entertainment and not like a professional baseball team. It’s disgraceful.
