As a life-long Dodgers fan, I’m slightly terrified: I’ve only felt this kind of excitement about a specific new-to-MLB player twice before: Raul Mondesi & Yasiel Puig. Tempering expectations gets slightly easier with age, but lordy that breathless sense of wonder & possibility is still like a blast of pure nitrous baseball oxide. Time to go brood about Kersh’s shoulder or something.
As a former 19 YO male college student, I vociferously object to the cleanliness comment. Wasn’t the case for me and my roommate. I fully concede that we were outliers! There were rooms I would not enter. (Let’s not discuss fraternity houses.)
I truly wonder (fear?) what is happening to NPB. NPB’s super duper stars are coming to the US, receiving king’s ransoms and generating more gigabytes of news than _________ (ok-anyone). Great for MLB but you have to think that NPB’s quality naturally is being watered down.
Finally, if the Dodgers do not sell out every game this year, it will be a mystery. I’m dreading afternoon games already and the deleterious impact on my commute home.
Personally, I like the stuff I get from Fanatics. The quality is usually good and it fits well. Yes, the prices are high and the shipping is slow, but it is a monopoly, after all.
